Custom Popcorn Tins: The Six Decisions Before You Order

Every year around the end of summer, the phone starts ringing with the same question. Can you put our logo on a popcorn tin? The answer is yes, and it has been yes since 1998. But the better question is the one almost nobody asks first, because a custom popcorn tin looks like one decision from the outside and is really about six of them stacked together.

Here is how we walk people through it, in the order the decisions actually come up.

1. Start with the real number, not the round number

Our minimum is 12 tins. Most first orders land somewhere between 25 and 60, which usually works out to one department, one client list, or one season of closing gifts. Volume pricing steps down at 50, 100, 250, 500, and 1,000 tins.

If you are sitting between 44 and 50, order the 50. The per-tin drop almost always pays for the extra six, and you will be glad to have spares when somebody remembers a person who got left off the list. That happens on roughly every order we have ever run.

We ask quantity first because it drives everything downstream: the label printing method, the lead time, and whether we can promise a delivery date in December. If your run is big enough that you are really asking a bulk question, our wholesale popcorn guide covers case pricing and private label.

2. Tin size is the impression, not the volume

We run three sizes, and each one says something different about the gift.

  • 1-gallon: the desk gift. One person, or a household. This is the size for a client list where every recipient gets their own tin.
  • 2-gallon: the team tin. Feeds a group of six to ten people around a conference table without anybody feeling rationed.
  • 3.5-gallon: the break room tin. This is the one that sits out for a week and makes the whole floor walk past your logo a dozen times.

Most corporate holiday orders come in as 1-gallon tins to individual recipients. Most event and trade show orders come in as 3.5-gallon.

3. Artwork: send a file or let us build one

A vector logo is best, an EPS, AI, PDF, or SVG. A high-resolution PNG works too. If all you have is the logo off your website, send it anyway and we will tell you honestly whether it will hold up at print size or whether it needs a redraw.

We send back a digital mockup within two business days. Nothing goes into production until you have looked at the mockup and said yes.

4. Flavors, and the mixed-office problem

You can mix and match up to three flavors per tin from the full lineup. The thing to know is that a tin going to fifty people is a tin going to fifty different palates, and the safest build is one sweet, one savory, and one Southwest.

In practice that usually means Sweet Butter Caramel, White Cheddar Jalapeño, and Prickly Pear. If the recipients are all Arizona people, swap in Roasted Street Corn and watch what happens. If you are shipping out of state, the Southwest flavors are the whole point, because nobody in Ohio has had prickly pear kettle corn before.

One note on heat. White Cheddar Jalapeño reads as flavorful rather than punishing, but if your list includes clients you have never met in person, keep it to one of the three slots.

5. Decide where they land

Two options, and they cost different amounts of your time.

Ship to one address and you hand them out yourself. This is cheaper and it is the right call for anything you want to give in person, like an office party or a trade show booth.

Blind ship to individual recipients and we send each tin straight to the person with your company as the sender. Send us the address list in a spreadsheet. This costs more in shipping and saves you a weekend of packing tape.

6. Work backward from the date

The timeline is a quote and mockup within two business days, then production ships within ten business days after you approve. Add transit.

For December delivery, book by November 1. Every year a few people call us the first week of December, and every year we do what we can, but the honest answer is that the good dates are gone by then. If December is what you are planning for, our Phoenix corporate holiday gift guide lays out the whole calendar.

Four questions worth asking any popcorn vendor

When was it popped? A lot of branded popcorn is warehoused for months before somebody puts your logo on it. Ask for the pop date. Ours is hand-popped in our Phoenix kitchen and packed for your order, not pulled off a shelf.

Who prints the label? If the answer is a third party, your timeline now has somebody else's queue inside it. We print in house.

What happens if it is late? Get the answer before you order, not after. A corporate gift that shows up in January is worse than no gift, because now the client knows you meant to and missed.

Can I taste it first? If a vendor will not send you a sample before a 100-tin order, that tells you something.

Who ends up ordering these

Real estate agents send them as closing gifts with the new address on the label. HR teams send them for work anniversaries and onboarding. Sales teams send them after a deal closes, when a thank-you actually lands. Event planners order the big tins for booths and grand openings. Wedding parties order minis with custom labels for the favor table.

The common thread is that people eat popcorn and then keep the tin. A branded tin sits on a shelf or a desk long after the popcorn is gone, which is more than most corporate gifts manage. If you want the broader picture on gifting rather than the custom side specifically, the corporate gifting page covers the ready-made options, and our Phoenix corporate gifting guide covers how local companies handle it.

Why people keep calling us for this

We have been popping corn at Chase Field since 1998, which means we have spent almost three decades making food for crowds that do not forgive a bad batch. We also ran 25,000 bags with the Arizona Cardinals at State Farm Stadium through Aramark, so a run of 500 tins does not scare anybody in our kitchen.

That is the whole pitch. We are a Phoenix popcorn family that hits deadlines, because when a corporate gift is late it is your relationship that takes the hit, not ours.
